Dr. Richard M. Black's career path did not immediately begin in the orthodontic field. After completing his undergraduate degree at Florida State University
with a major in mathematics, Dr. Black accepted a teaching fellowship at Villanova University in the undergraduate mathematics department and worked on a
Masters degree in Applied Mechanics. Upon leaving Villanova University, he accepted a position as a mathematician for the General Electric Corporation.
Tiring of the corporate world, he entered the University of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine and received his DMD degree with honors in 1979.
From there, he entered the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry where he received his specialty certification in orthodontics.
Dr. Black has been practicing orthodontics in North County since 1981. He and his family live in North County and his interests include weight training,
running, tennis, and woodcarving. One of his greatest joys is being able to create beautiful smiles in a fun and enjoyable way for his patients and their
families.
